| | It was New Year's Eve of 2013. I live in Pasadena, and my rule of thumb was to not go into to Old Town Pasadena, or anywhere nearby, on NYE. My brother Jono and I were hanging out, chilling, and around 10:00 p.m., he asks me to show him the town. I reluctantly said yes. We zip into Old Town, and I take him to Jake's. While we were hanging out on the dance floor, a man came up to me and asks me to dance/hang out--little did I know he would turn out to be the love of my life, Devin. We met, talked for a while over a beer, and parted ways. The next morning, I got a text from Devin asking me out, and the rest is history. I'm thankful my brother encouraged us to go out that serendipitous NYE, and the best decision I've ever made was to date and soon be married to Devin. He is a wonderful man, and I'm fortunate he is in my life. |
| On New Year's Eve of 2013, I called my friends together early in the evening to start out for a round of beers at Old Town Pub. We crawled through the town until we ended up at Jake's - an old favorite of ours, a 40s dinner on the ground floor with billiards down below, and every New Year’s they clear a dance floor. I see a girl on the dance floor, the only problem is it looks like she is dancing with another guy. One of our friends, Kaitlyn, tells me I should dance with her. And I point out the guy who must be her boyfriend. Kaitlyn tells me he couldn't be a boyfriend, and I was glad that I went up and talked to her because it turned out the guy was her brother. We showed off our hip and nerdy dance moves. She agreed to date me even though I didn't have a car at the time. And turns out, she was my soulmate. As we've grown in our love together, I am excited to be spending the rest of my life with my love, Lisa, as I take her as my bride. |
